Siliguri, 28th May: In a significant development in the Ramakrishna Mission land grab case, Bhakti Nagar police have apprehended another member of the notorious KGF gang. The latest arrested accused, identified as MD Irshad, was captured from the Gandhi Nagar area on Monday night.
It is to be noted that, the incident, which occurred on the May 19, involved land mafia attempting to seize property belonging to the Ramakrishna Mission in Salugara. This act prompted widespread criticism of the state government and raised questions from opposition parties regarding the state’s legal enforcement.
Following the incident’s escalation, Bhakti Nagar police swiftly acted, arresting five KGF gang members four days post-incident. Significantly, intensive interrogations led to the capture of two more suspects. The latest arrest of MD Irshad, on Monday night, brings the total number of detained individuals to eight.
However, the prime suspect, Pradip Roy, still remains at large. Authorities, including the Bhakti Nagar police, SOG, and DD, are conducting raids at various locations to apprehend him.
