Siliguri, 02nd October: As the countdown for West Bengal’s renowned Durga Puja begins, preparations are in their final stages, and the Siliguri Police Commissionerate is actively reviewing arrangements.
On Wednesday, Siliguri Police Commissioner C. Sudhakar visited several puja pandals across the city, inspecting those under the jurisdiction of Bhakti Nagar, and NJP Police Stations, including Dadabhai Sporting Club, Subrata Sangha, and Sanghashree Club under the Siliguri Police Station.
During the inspection, the Commissioner announced that 2,000 police personnel would be deployed for security during the festival. He interacted with members of various Durga Puja committees, urging them to strictly follow government-issued guidelines.
In addition to the Police Commissioner, other police officers inspected the construction of the pandals, reviewing the size and structure of the Puja Mandaps and planning for devotee movement.
Addressing the media, Commissioner C. Sudhakar emphasized the extensive security arrangements for Durga Puja. Along with city-wide security, special surveillance will be maintained at the pandals. In total, 2,000 police personnel and civic volunteers will be deployed to ensure public safety during the puja.
