Siliguri, 27th March: The Siliguri police arrested two, including a woman, with a large amount of cannabis during Naka checking. The duo has been identified as Sulekha Bibi and Sabhir Fakir, residents of Murshidabad.
According to police sources, the police conducted a Naka checking at Siliguri’s Jalpai More late Friday night and searched a passenger bus heading from Cooch Behar. The smugglers tried to escape the scene but with the help of the bus driver and conductor, the police successfully nabbed the duo. 8.500 kilograms of cannabis was recovered from their possession.
Reportedly, a case under the NDPS Act has been registered against the two arrested and they were presented in Siliguri court. The bus driver and the conductor will be felicitated on behalf of the police for their assistance in catching the peddlers.
