Siliguri, 21st December: Pradhan Nagar police arrested a person for allegedly defrauding a Haryana transport businessman of lakhs of rupees. The arrested accused has been identified as Surojit Das.
According to police sources, trader Ajay Sharma lost his car in Siliguri in 2020. Surojit Das had contacted Sharma and offered to help him retrieve the car in exchange for money. Convinced by his words, Sharma transferred money to Das’ account several times. Not getting back his lost car even after several days had passed, he then lodged a complaint at Pradhan Nagar police station. It has been learned that the accused took a total of Rs 5 lakh from Sharma.
Police arrested the accused Surojit Das based on the complaint. According to police sources, Das has several other criminal records. He was produced at Siliguri court today.
