Siliguri, 09th June: In a bid to promote hydration and health awareness among students, Siliguri Netaji Boys Primary School has launched an innovative initiative called the ‘Water Bell’. The move comes amid soaring temperatures across the city, which have raised concerns about student well-being.
The initiative was officially launched on Monday through a special programme attended by Primary Council Chairman Dilip Roy, former teacher Vidhubhushan Roy, school staff, and students. As part of the event, students were also treated to biryani, bringing smiles to many faces.
Under this system, a designated bell will ring twice daily, reminding students to pause and drink water. Acting headmaster Kanchan Das stated that many children tend to neglect drinking enough water during school hours, which can harm their health in such intense heat. The ‘Water Bell’ aims to develop a habit of staying hydrated.
Additionally, Das mentioned that due to recent controversies surrounding biryani in the city, some students have been avoiding the dish despite it being their favorite. To address this, the school organized a biryani meal for all students to enjoy without fear.
The initiative has been widely appreciated by parents, who praised the school’s concern for both the physical and emotional well-being of the students.
