Siliguri, 13th February: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation budget for the current financial year was presented on Friday, totaling ₹638.42 crore, showing a significant increase compared to last year.
The budget was presented by Mayor Gautam Deb, with the municipal chairman, ruling party councillors, and opposition representatives in attendance.
This year’s budget gives special focus to overall city development and tourism. A ‘Siliguri Museum’ will be established. Construction of a modern industrial and cultural convention centre at Kawakhali has already begun.
The budget also emphasizes city greening initiatives. Infrastructure at the dumping ground will be improved, and a track for cycling and jogging will be built along the Eastern Bypass. ‘Boipara’ will be created in the College Para area.
