Siliguri, 05th September: The Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) took action against illegal construction in the Babupara area near Alo Chowdhury More under Ward No. 26 and demolished an unauthorised portion of a multi-storey building. The action created a stir in the area.
According to the municipal corporation, additional construction had been carried out at the building without approval. After the matter came to the authorities’ attention, a notice was issued to the building owner, directing them to demolish the illegal portion within a specified timeframe.
However, it was alleged that no action was taken even after the deadline had passed. Following this, SMC personnel reached the spot on Saturday and demolished the unauthorised construction.
Officials and personnel from the concerned department of the municipal corporation were present during the operation.
