Siliguri, 04th February: Riding a motorcycle fitted with a loud modified silencer proved costly for a youth in Siliguri, as the Siliguri Junction Traffic Guard took strict action and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000.
According to traffic police sources, on Tuesday night a youth was found riding his bike at high speed with a loud modified silencer, openly violating traffic rules and causing noise pollution on the road. The matter came to the notice of the Junction Traffic Guard, following which immediate action was initiated.
Sub-Inspector Titu Saha of the Junction Traffic Guard led the operation, and traffic police personnel stopped the biker near the Junction area. During inspection, a modified silencer was found fitted to the motorcycle.
The modified silencer was seized on the spot, and a challan of Rs 10,000 was issued against the rider for violating traffic regulations.
Traffic police officials said strict action will continue against riders using modified silencers and flouting traffic norms on city roads.
