Siliguri MLA submits development proposals to NBD Minister, seeks action on civic issues

Fulbari, 05th May: Siliguri MLA Shankar Ghosh submitted a memorandum to North Bengal Development (NBD) Minister Udayan Guha on Monday, outlining several proposals aimed at the development of Siliguri city.

Accompanied by the Councillor of Ward No. 05 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, the MLA visited the minister’s office at Uttar Kanya. Key proposals included the construction of a multi-level parking system and improved drainage in the Regulated Market area. The memorandum also listed civic issues faced by residents of Wards 01, 02, 03, 05, 07, 08, 09, 18, 24, 45, 46, and 48.

Ghosh stated that the suggestions stemmed from his direct public engagement program ‘Sarasari Shankar’, through which he received feedback from citizens. He expressed hope that the minister would give serious consideration to the proposals.

In response, Minister Udayan Guha acknowledged receiving the suggestions but remarked that they had come too late. He added that tenders worth nearly ₹25 crore had already been issued for works in Siliguri and Dabgram-Fulbari and that any additional proposals would be considered if further funds become available.
