Siliguri, 19th December: The training session of BAAGHINI-1 drive concluded today. The initiative was taken on behalf of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police and also with the assistance of ICC. All girls and women who received the training were given certificates by the Siliguri Police Commissioner.
It is noteworthy that a few days ago, the Siliguri Metropolitan Police started Baaghini-1 to train girls and women aged 18 to 45 years. There were a total of 100 girls and women in the first session. They were given training for a total of four days. Legal awareness of women, self-defense training, yoga meditation, and many other subjects were covered on behalf of high-ranking metropolitan officers, Air Force pilots, and district magistrates.
In this context, Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma said that Baaghini-1 was initiated with an aim to strengthen women and girls. Three girls who performed best overall have been felicitated. He further said that after the success of Baaghini-1, Baaghini-2 will be launched soon. This time some new topics will be added.
Monalisa Rai, the self-defense trainer in Baaghini-1, said that during the four days of training, women were taught kick boxing, punch, meditation, yoga as well as many other types of training which are quite necessary for the present time.
