Siliguri Metropolitan Police unveils master plan to address traffic issues

Siliguri, 31st August: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police has unveiled a master plan to address the city’s traffic congestion problems. As a result, barriers have been installed at locations including Venus More, Darjeeling More, and Sevoke More to alleviate traffic jams.


According to reports, a special traffic police team has been formed to take action against unauthorized parking within the city. Following the ban on unregistered e-rickshaw vehicles, the focus has now shifted to regulating approximately 5,000 registered e-rickshaw vehicles. Additionally, registered e-rickshaws will be painted in four different colours, and designated to specific routes within the city.

DCP Bishwachand Thakur of the Siliguri Metropolitan Police announced that efforts to address traffic issues have commenced. He highlighted that unregistered e-rickshaws have been banned and emphasized ongoing planning at the three major locations.
