Siliguri, 23rd November: In an effort to control soaring potato prices, Mayor Gautam Deb convened a meeting with the task force on Saturday. Despite Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s prior intervention and warnings, the prices of potatoes in the market remain high, causing significant distress to the common man.
The meeting was attended by Parimal Mitra, Sabhapati of the Brihattara Khuchra Byabasayee Samiti, Siliguri Municipal Corporation Deputy Mayor Ranjan Sarkar, MMICs, and senior officials from various departments, along with police officers.
Following the meeting, Mayor Deb announced that the task force will continue its operations in Siliguri’s markets, with efforts focused on reducing potato prices as much as possible. Additionally, the task force will monitor and work toward controlling the prices of vegetables.
