Siliguri, 15th September: The Siliguri Junction Government Railway Police (GRP) foiled an alleged attempt to transport liquor illegally to Bihar by train and arrested two individuals from Platform No. 3 of Siliguri Junction Railway Station on Monday night. Police recovered 60 cans of beer from their possession.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Vishal Kumar (26) and Gautam Roy (42). According to police, Vishal Kumar is a resident of Katihar district in Bihar, while Gautam Roy hails from the Fatapukur area of Rajganj.
According to GRP sources, police launched an operation on Platform No. 3 on Monday night following a tip-off about the suspected movement of liquor. During the operation, officers noticed two individuals behaving suspiciously and stopped them for questioning.
A subsequent search of their trolley bags led to the recovery of 60 cans of beer.
During preliminary questioning, the two allegedly admitted to planning to transport the liquor to Bihar by train, following which the GRP arrested them.
The accused were produced before the Siliguri Court on Tuesday.
