Siliguri ISKCON authorities concerned over Rath Yatra amid dilapidated road and drain conditions

Siliguri, 28th June: The authorities of Siliguri ISKCON temple in Ward No. 40 have expressed their concerns over conducting the forthcoming annual Rath Yatra amid the deplorable state of the road and drainage in the area.


Significantly, the annual Rath Yatra will be conducted on July 7 for which preparations are in full swing. However, the roadways and drainage in the area have been in a neglected state for a long time. The stench of the sewer and the poor condition of the road has led to inconvenience for the local commuters. Despite informing the ward councilor regarding this, the issue could not be resolved.

On the other hand, a large number of devotees from all over the country and abroad gather at the temple during the event. However, due to the current predicament, the devotees will face issues commuting in the area. This has led to concern among the authorities of the Siliguri ISKCON temple.


In this regard, Namakrishna Das, public relations officer of ISKCON temple in Siliguri, highlighted that despite repeated notifications to the councilor, there has been no improvement in the infrastructure surrounding the temple. On the other hand, Ward Councilor Rajesh Prasad Sha (Munna) has not responded in this matter.
