Siliguri, 09th December: An incident of mishap surfaced from the Bhakti Nagar area of NJP where several people sustained severe injuries after being hit by a recklessly driven four-wheeler. At present, the injured are undergoing medical treatment in Siliguri District Hospital.
According to reports, on Friday night, a four-wheeler rammed into several individuals, while heading towards NJP from Fuleswari, leaving the victims severely injured. Following the incident, the locals rescued the injured and transported them to Siliguri District Hospital for medical care.
Simultaneously, the locals also initiated a chase to apprehend the four-wheeler. However, the accused driver managed to abandon the car in the NJP Bhaktinagar area and fled from the scene. The angry mob thereafter vandalized the four-wheeler and informed the matter to the police. Upon receiving the news, the cops of NJP police station arrived at the scene, retrieved the vehicle, and took it to the police station.
Upon being notified, Ward No. 35 Councillor Shampa Nandi also arrived at the scene. In this regard, the Councillor stated that a recklessly driven vehicle hit several people on the road. She added that the authorities stand in support of the families of the victims. Furthermore, she demanded stringent punishment for the accused involved in the incident. Currently, the police are engaged in a detailed investigation of the entire incident.
