Several, including independent panchayat members joined TMC ahead of Lok Sabha polls in Rajganj

Rajganj, 29th March: In a significant political development before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Trinamool Comgress (TMC) party has witnessed a surge of over two hundred supporters including independent Panchayat members in Rajganj.


According to reports, Panchayat member Madhabi Roy of Mali Para booth number 109 under Majhiali Gram Panchayat of Rajganj block and many of her workers-supporters arrived at the residence of Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy and joined the party. During this, TMC District Secretary Tapan Bhattacharya, Rajganj Panchayat Samiti President Rupali Dey Sarkar, Zilla Parishad member Ranbir Majumdar, TMC’s Rajganj Block President Arindam Banerjee, Majhiali Gram Panchayat Pradhan Sumit Dutta and others were present.

Speaking in this regard, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy expressed that due to misunderstandings during the Panchayat elections the party workers and supporters had contested independently in the previous elections. However, he highlighted the return of the workers and supporters displaying an advantage ahead of the Lok Sabha polls. He further expressed optimism about TMC candidate Nirmal Chandra Roy winning with a huge vote margin in the Jalpaiguri constituency.
