Jalpaiguri, 04th May: Several leaders, including the Jalpaiguri BJP District President Bapi Goswami, were arrested by the police under the charge of breaching the lockdown restrictions.
As per the reports, some BJP officials were heading towards the District Magistrate’s office on Monday to discuss several issues including ration corruption and the unjust arrest of BJP leaders and workers amid the ongoing lockdown. However, they were stopped at the PWD More by a huge police force led by DSP Pradeep Sarkar and Kotwali Police IC Biswas Roy Sarkar.
In this context, Bapi Goswami stated that he was forcefully arrested while he was on his way to meet the DM. He further claimed that he did not breach the government protocols and maintained social distance.
