Security heightened at NJP railway station ahead of 15th August; sniffer dogs deployed

Siliguri, 14th August: In preparation for the 78th Independence Day celebrations on 15th August, security measures at NJP railway station have been significantly strengthened.

A special inspection campaign has been launched by the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Government Railway Police (GRP) to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent any untoward incidents.

As part of the campaign, sniffer dogs are being used to thoroughly check all trains departing from NJP, including major services like the Darjeeling Mail and Rajdhani Express. Additionally, passengers’ bags and luggage are undergoing stringent inspections.

NJP railway station, one of the largest in North Eastern India, sees thousands of travelers daily. Given the high volume of passengers, authorities have implemented these robust security measures to maintain public safety during the Independence Day celebrations.
