Naxalbari, 19th February: Police arrested a second accused in a daytime theft case at School Dangi in Naxalbari.
According to reports, last Sunday, miscreants allegedly stole gold jewellery and cash from the residence of Biswajit Singh, a civic volunteer, after finding the house vacant. Acting on the complaint and examining CCTV footage, police earlier arrested Dipak Das within 12 hours of the incident. Stolen jewellery and cash were recovered from his possession.
Based on further investigation and CCTV evidence, police arrested another accused identified as Shyam Upadhyay, a resident of Patiram Jote in Matigara. Stolen earrings were recovered from his possession.
Police sources said the two accused are related as brothers-in-law and are allegedly involved in multiple theft cases. Both were produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court.
