Siliguri, 01st July: The disaster management team has been conducting a search operation in the Mahananda River to locate Vidyut Sarkar, who went missing while bathing with friends. Despite over 24 hours of effort, there is still no trace of him.
Vidyut Sarkar, a resident of Samar Nagar in Ward No. 46 of Siliguri, disappeared while bathing in the river with three friends on Sunday. Following an extensive but unsuccessful search by his friends, the disaster management team initiated their operation on Sunday night. The search has since extended from the Mahananda River to areas including Naukaghat, Porajhar, and the Mahananda Barrage.
Vidyut Sarkar’s father expressed his anguish, stating that more than 24 hours have passed without any news of his son. Meanwhile, the disaster management official confirmed that the search operation is ongoing, with teams navigating the river by boat due to the high water levels.
