Siliguri, 29th March: A gruesome incident came to light where a student returning from school was allegedly molested in broad daylight in Siliguri. The incident occurred near Ganga Nagar Park on Thursday, raising questions on the police administration. The arrested accused has been identified as Mohammad Ibrahim.
According to reports, an individual riding a scooter allegedly held the schoolgirl’s hand and attempted objectionable acts. However, the student managed to escape the clutches and reached home. Later, the student narrated her ordeal to her family members.
Subsequently, the family members filed a written complaint at the Khalpara Outpost. Based on the complaint, the police launched an investigation and arrested the accused from Ward No. 6 at night.
On Friday, the police registered a case against the accused under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and presented him before the Siliguri court. At present, the police are engaged in a detailed investigation of the entire incident.
