School and several houses damaged in elephant attack in Rajganj’s Mantadari

Rajganj, 03rd February: A distressing incident surfaced where the kitchen of a primary school and several houses were damaged in a wild elephant attack. This incident occurred late on Friday night in Lalitabari area of Mantadari Gram Panchayat under Rajganj block.


As per reports, at around 2:30 a.m. on Friday night, an elephant entered the Lalitabari village and created a ruckus. During this, the animal damaged the kitchen of Shikarpur Nanita Para Primary School and several other houses of the village.

Sources revealed that the family members of a resident Sushant Roy were sleeping in two rooms when he woke hearing the sound of wreckage. Significantly, the family members saved their lives by fleeing the house. However, the elephant damaged several household items including two houses, beds, and cupboards. In addition the tusker also destroyed food items including rice and pulses kept in the house.


Later, the animal headed back to the Baikunthapur forest. The incident left the affected family in distraught. Upon receiving the news, the Forest Department officials arrived at the spot and initiated an investigation. Additionally, the officials also assured help for the family.
