Rokinay Chaina Shiksha Project: Darjeeling Police donates their one day’s salary to buy smartphones for meritorious students

Darjeeling, 06th August: Standing by their motto of ‘Citizens First’, the Darjeeling Police launched the Project ‘Rokinay Chaina Shiksha’ (Education will not stop) where smartphones will be donated for meritorious students of classes IX and X from Darjeeling Hills. The department’s personnel donated their one day’s salary as a part of their contribution to procure these mobile phones.

SIM cards will also be given along with these smartphones which will have internet validity for the next three months so that there are no further costs for handling these smartphones just after the launch of this scheme. The move has been taken considering that there are numerous families in the hills, where there is only one low-end smartphone, which is to be shared with more than one student of the same family and may lead to a tussle, as the class routine doesn’t blend neatly with one another.

In their social media page, the Darjeeling Police maintained that the project has been initiated in collaboration with the Headmasters of School association in Darjeeling Hills. The meritorious students will be identified by the Headmasters association and further verified by the Darjeeling Police.

The ‘Rokinay Chaina Shiksha’ Project will be inaugurated on 16th August where the first phase of the mobile phones will be distributed.
