Maynaguri, 05th March: Two people died in an accident while returning home from Jalpesh Mela. The deceased have been identified as Vanu Mallick (50) and Kalpana Mallick (45), residents of Maynaguri Hospital para Ward n0-06.
It has been learned that Vanu Mallick and his wife Kalpana Mallick sell guavas to earn a living. On Friday night, on their way home, a lorry rammed into them near Indira more in Maynaguri. They were rescued and rushed to Maynaguri Rural Hospital, where the doctors declared them dead.
The driver of the lorry has been absconding since the incident. However, the police have detained the lorry. The body was sent to Jalpaiguri Sadar Hospital for autopsy on Saturday. An investigation has been launched into the incident.
