Retail stores can now be kept open from 12 noon-4 pm: Mamata Banerjee

Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee addressed a meeting at Nabanna today, where she announced some concessions to the current restrictions in the state.


She stated that hotels and restaurants can be kept open with a 50% workforce from 5 pm to 8 pm only if the workers are vaccinated and all safety measures must be followed. Besides, retail stores can now be kept open from 12 noon-4 pm.

The CM further said that partial exemptions are also being considered in the case of shopping malls. The decision will be taken after the 15th.


She also requested the business organizations to vaccinate their workers. Free vaccination will be provided to the workers of rice mills and flour mills like ration shop workers.

There were 29 trade associations present in the meeting with the Chief Minister today. During the meeting, the Chief Minister said, that no lockdown or curfew was imposed in West Bengal like other states. ‘We have already given 1 crore 40 lakh vaccines so far. We are providing 70-80 thousand vaccines every day. The haats and bazaars of the state should be sanitized regularly. The issue of vaccination of domestic helpers is also being taken seriously. ‘, she added.
