Siliguri, 02nd June: After a prolonged water crisis in Siliguri, the residents are finally relieved as the drinking water supplied by the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has been restored to normalcy. On Sunday, Mayor Gautam Deb announced in a press conference that the residents now have access to purified drinking water sourced from the Teesta River.
According to reports, the water of the Teesta River has been channeled for consumption in Siliguri after the completion of the repair works on Teesta Canal. On this, day, Mayor Gautam Deb assured the public that various tests have been conducted on the water to ensure its safety for consumption, with the Public Health Engineering (PHE) office confirming the water’s quality meets all standards.
