Fulbari, 13th September: Residents of the Jugibhita area under Fulbari II Gram Panchayat took to the streets on Sunday to protest against the alleged sale of narcotic substances in the locality and demanded immediate action to curb the illegal trade.
According to local residents, narcotic substances, including brown sugar, are allegedly being sold from several houses in the area. They claimed that the availability of drugs has led to an increase in addiction among local youths, affecting several families and causing domestic disputes.
Residents further alleged that some youths have been selling household belongings to finance their drug use. They also claimed that the growing prevalence of drug abuse has contributed to an increase in theft incidents in the locality.
A local resident said that action should not be limited to drug users and urged the police to take strict measures against those allegedly involved in supplying and selling narcotic substances. The resident expressed concern that the illegal trade could have a serious impact on the future of children in the area.
Another local woman said that drug addiction has created difficulties for several families and alleged that some youths have resorted to theft to fund their addiction.
The residents have called for immediate steps to stop the alleged sale of narcotic substances in the area and sought strict action against those involved in the illegal trade.
