Residents of Siliguri’s Ward No. 07 raise concerns about drug menace to Mayor

Siliguri, 19th September: Local residents of Ward No. 07 in Siliguri have voiced their concerns over the rampant drug trade and use in the area. They expressed their anger about drugs being sold openly and criticized the role of the police in addressing the issue during a meeting with Mayor Gautam Deb.


Repportedly, an anti-drug awareness camp was organized on Thursday in Ward No. 07, where Councillor Pintu Ghosh held a discussion with the residents. Mayor Gautam Deb and local police officers were also present at the meeting.

During the discussion, residents expressed frustration over the growing drug trade and consumption in the area, along with concerns about the police’s efforts in tackling the problem.


In response, Mayor Deb assured them that he would discuss the matter with police officials. He also stated that he will speak to the Chief Minister regarding the situation in the city and announced plans to launch a special anti-drug campaign after the Durga Puja celebrations.
