Rajganj, 03rd November: The residents of Sardarpara of Belakoba protested by blocking the path in support of several demands including road repair. They further claimed to boycott the election if their needs were not met.
The residents protested by blocking the Belakoba-Rangdhamali road of Rajganj. The protesters said that the road from Sardar Para to Manthani Bari was in poor and dilapidated condition for a long time. Due to this, people especially patients face difficulties while commuting or travelling to the hospital. Apart from this, young students are also facing problems in their day-to-day commute to school. Adding to this, the protesters also talked about the issue of the unavailability of potable water and street lights in the said village.

As soon as the news of the incident was received, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy, Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad Chairperson Uttara Barman, and Belakoba Out Post police reached the spot. However, later the locals lifted the blockade on the assurance of the MLA. In this regard, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy said he talked with the protesters and asked them to inform the administration in writing about their demands. He further assured that work will start soon and cater to the said problems.
