Residents of Ambika Nagar Nichpara demand embankment across the Jorapani river be repaired

Rajganj, 25th February: The residents of Ambika Nagar Nichpara under Fulbari-1 Gram Panchayat face a lot of difficulties as the area remains submerged underwater during the monsoons.

The locals alleged that the concrete embankments across the Jorapani river had been broken several years ago. The depth of the river has also dropped drastically due to the accumulation of garbage. As a result, the river water flows into the village during the monsoons. To tackle the situation, a 500-meter embankment is needed to safeguard the village.

The locals demanded that the embankment should be repaired before the monsoons, this year. In this regard, Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad member Debashis Pramanik stated that the matter will be discussed with the Irrigation Department and a settlement will be provided soon.
