Naxalbari, 25th January: After several years of water crisis, the Sebdella Jote area in Naxalbari has been provided with proper access to drinking water. The water was anticipated to reach the village by January 31 as per court orders issued by Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay. However, the locals had access to drinking water before the official date.
It is to be noted that the Sebdulla village is part of the Hatighisa Gram Panchayat in Naxalbari. After grappling with the prolonged issue of the drinking water crisis, the residents approached the court regarding the problem. Following this, the PHE department undertook work to resolve the issue.
Upon arriving at Sebdulla, the District Magistrate inquired further into the issue and got involved in the state government’s problem-solving and public relations programs. Furthermore, the DM issued an order for immediate action after learning about the issues. In addition, the attendees included Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh, Naxalbari BDO Pranab Chattraj, Naxalbari Panchayat Samiti President Anand Ghosh, BMOH, BLRO, and others.
In this regard, the District Magistrate stated that the water issue was resolved following Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s order. Meanwhile, Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh emphasized how the CM works on her assured words and thus 392 families in Sebdella have access to proper drinking water. Subsequently, a problem-solving and public relations campaign is being conducted to assess if the residents are provided with the government schemes.
