Rajganj, 05th December: Residents of Mahamaya Colony in Ambari, Rajganj, have raised concerns over the distribution of substandard ration items. According to locals, the rice provided contains insects, and the flour is inedible.
On Friday, ration dealer Uttam Kumar Biswas, responsible for delivering ration from Binaguri Gram Panchayat’s No. 9 Colony, reportedly brought rice and flour that residents claimed were unfit for consumption.
Locals said the rice had visible insects and the flour could not be used for cooking. They added that such incidents have been occurring for a long time, and consumption of the supplied rice and flour has caused stomach problems for many. Despite repeatedly informing the ration dealer, no improvements have been made.
Ration dealer Uttam Kumar Biswas admitted that the rice and flour being distributed contain insects but stated that this is what they receive. He also mentioned that the matter will be reported to higher authorities.
