Rajganj, 19th January: Irked by the inferior quality of the repairing of the road, the residents of the area under the Binnaguri Gram Panchayat (GP) of the Rajganj block raised several allegations against the substandard quality materials used in the reconstruction of a road in the area.
According to reports, about 2-kilometer stretch of road between the Binnaguri GP office and Haricharan Bhita has been in a dilapidated condition for a prolonged time. As a result, the repair work of the road was initiated a few days prior under the project of the Jalpaiguri Zilla Parishad. The estimated budget to carry out the repair work is Rs 39 lakhs. Meanwhile, residents complained about the poor quality work undertaken for the repair work.
Residents asserted the substandard quality of materials used for the making of the road and stated that the road would not be efficient if repaired in such a manner. Thus, the locals demanded adequate quality of work to be initiated for the repair.
In this regard, Binnaguri Gram Panchayat Pradhan Samijuddin Ahmed claimed to have received several complaints regarding the quality of the work being undertaken and has discussed the issue with the concerned contractor. He further added that strict action will be undertaken if the issue is not resolved on short notice.
