Siliguri, 02nd June: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operations Group (SOG) in collaboration with the Bhakti Nagar police successfully arrested the prime accused Pradip Roy in connection to the Ramakrishna Mission land dispute case after a 12-day long operation.
Notably, on May 19, land mafia Pradip Roy, accompanied by 30-40 individuals, had allegedly attacked the Ramakrishna Mission located in Salugara. Reportedly, the group, armed with firearms and sharp weapons, attempted to capture the land worth crores. During the attack, the residents and the security personnel were threatened to vacate the premises. Subsequently, the attackers vandalized the CCTV cameras and confiscated the cell phones before fleeing the scene. A formal complaint was lodged by Ramakrishna Mission with the Bhakti Nagar police station, prompting a detailed investigation.
The incident put significant pressure on the state government, leading to intensified efforts by law enforcement agencies to apprehend the perpetrators. Initially, five suspects were arrested by Bhakti Nagar police, followed by the apprehension of three more individuals. Subsequently, Alok Das, the alleged mastermind behind the KGF Group, was arrested from the Kholachand Fafri area on Friday night.
Following this, the SOG received a tip-off about Pradip Roy, the main accused behind the incident, attempting to flee the city. As a result, the SOG and the Bhakti Nagar police heightened the surveillance at the exit points and the police team stationed at the Siliguri Junction arrested Pradip Roy on Saturday evening.
On Sunday, accused Pradip Roy was produced in Jalpaiguri court. According to sources, the officials of Bhakti Nagar police station will take the accused Pradip Roy on police remand for interrogations. His arrest is anticipated to yield significant information about the Ramakrishna Mission case.
