Rajganj, 17th December: In response to the prolonged demands of the locals, MLA Khageswar Roy laid the foundation stones for a new bridge and road in Rajganj on Tuesday.
Reportedly, the new bridge will be constructed over the Sukati River in Shikarpur Tea Garden, replacing the dilapidated wooden bridge. MLA Khageswar Roy laid the foundation in the presence of local officials. The bridge will be built at a cost of approximately ₹2.29 crore with funding from the North Bengal Development Department (NBDD).
In addition, MLA Roy also laid the foundation for the construction of a nearly 2.5-kilometer-long road stretch in the Majhabari area of Belakoba. This road project, which will improve connectivity in the region, is being funded with ₹2.46 crore from the NBDD.
The foundation-laying ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Rajganj Panchayat Samiti President Rupali Dey Sarkar, Prabha Kujur, the Pradhan of Shikarpur Gram Panchayat, Purnima Roy, Narayan Basak, and other local leaders.
