Rajganj, 07th October: Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy laid the foundation stone of a paved bridge over the Chawai River in the Chaulhati area of Rajganj. Reportedly, the bridge will be constructed at a cost of Rs 5.65 crore on behalf of Jalpaiguri District Council.
At present, there is an old wooden bridge over the Chawai river in the Chaulhati area adjacent to the Indo-Bangladesh border in Rajganj. Apart from the common people, the on-duty BSF officials at the border use this for their daily commute. MLA Khageswar Roy said that residents of the area and BSF had been demanding the construction of a paved bridge at the site.
Apart from the MLA, District Council President Uttara Barman, Co-Mentor Ahidar Rahman, Rajganj Panchayat Samiti President Purnima Roy, DPSC Chairman Laikkha Mohan Roy, Arindam Banerjee, Sheikh Umar Farooq, Dilip Roy, and others were present at the programme.
