Pvt hospitals cannot refuse patients without preliminary treatment during the festive season: WBCERC

West Bengal Clinical Establishment Regulatory Commission (WBCERC) has issued directives to all the private hospitals asking them to ensure that not a single patient is transferred to another hospital without preliminary treatment during the festive season.

If any private hospital is running short of beds or has no vacant beds at that particular moment the WBCERC has directed to provide information of where they would get a vacant bed so that the patient and his/her family members do not face any harassment, especially during the puja days.

Furthermore, the WBCERC said that a maximum of Rs 3,000 can be charged by ambulances of private hospitals to move patients within the city.

Besides, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has decided to reduce the charge for COVID-19 tests in private labs from Rs 2,250 to Rs 1,500. She claimed the decision to be a ‘Puja Gift’ for the people of Bengal. Reportedly, Rs 500 will be charged for every hour for oxygen, Rs 25/km for AC ambulances, Rs 20 for ordinary ones and Rs 300 for sanitisation and PPE kits.
