Siliguri, 17th November: The third accused in the murder of Pushpa Chhetri has been arrested in Chennai. Abhishek Dorji, one of the hired killers, was brought to Siliguri on transit remand by the Special Operations Group (SOG) team. Legal proceedings are also underway to apprehend Arun Paudel, the mastermind behind the crime, who allegedly contracted the murder while working with his wife, Pratika Paudel.
This marks a significant development in the case, with three individuals now arrested in connection with the crime. Reportedly, Pratika Paudel, Arun Paudel’s wife, has been charged with hiring the killers.
The murder took place in the Lower Bhanu Nagar area of Ward No. 43 under the Siliguri Municipal Corporation. Pushpa Chhetri was brutally killed in a meticulously planned murder, which authorities later determined was orchestrated by Arun Paudel. Reports suggest that Arun wanted to end his extramarital affair with Pushpa. Consequently, he along with his wife paid a contract killer to carry out the murder for ₹1 lakh.
Following an investigation led by the Bhakti Nagar Police, authorities arrested Pratika Paudel, as well as Rustam Vishwakarma, one of the hired hitmen. On Sunday, Abhishek Dorji, another hitman involved in the crime, was arrested in Chennai and brought to Siliguri on transit remand. He will be presented in a Jalpaiguri court on Monday.
Meanwhile, efforts to apprehend Arun Paudel, who is reportedly working with paramilitary forces in Punjab, are intensifying. The officials have initiated the process to secure the arrest.
