Siliguri, 09th December: Protests erupted at Siliguri District Hospital on Wednesday night over the death of a woman due to alleged medical negligence. The Siliguri police later reached the spot and normalized the situation.
It has been learned that Pinki Roy, a resident of Shantinagar, gave birth to a child at the hospital on Wednesday morning. Her family members were present at the hospital and she was absolutely healthy.
The family members alleged that the hospital authorities informed them that Pinki died in the evening while being taken to the ICU. The exact cause of death has not been reported to them. Following the incident, they started protesting at the hospital which created an atmosphere of tension in the hospital. After the incident, the Siliguri police went to the spot and normalized the situation.
The deceased’s sister-in-law Lakshmi Das said that Pinky was completely healthy till evening. The hospital authorities have not yet provided a proper reason for her sudden death.
