Siliguri, 22nd July: Long queues of mothers of children from 0-12 years of age were spotted waiting to register their name for vaccination since last night.
When the women arrived at the Siliguri Municipal Primary Health Center No. 01 in Ward No. 04 to receive their shot this morning, the youths who noted down their names did not show up at the vaccination centre. Following this, the mothers staged a massive protest.
Reportedly, 150 mothers of children from 0-12 years of age were supposed to get the first dose of the vaccine today. Despite waiting in long queues since Wednesday night, they were deprived of the vaccine. When the police reached the spot to take a stock of the situation, some women gheraoed the police officials and protested.
