Gangtok, 04th November: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Gangtok today on her two-day maiden visit to Sikkim. The President landed at Bagdogra Airport on a special flight from Delhi. The President reached the Army Helipad in Libing by Indian Airforce Aircraft Mi-17, this afternoon from Bagdogra airport.
President Murmu was received by Sikkim Governor Ganga Prasad, Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, Sikkim Assembly Speaker Arun Kumar Upreti, Senior Cabinet Minister Kunga Nima Lepcha, Chief Secretary V.B. Pathak, Director General of Police A. Sudhakar Rao, GOC, 17th Mtn. Div., Major General Gambhir Singh, AVSM and top state government officials.
While on President’s maiden visit to Sikkim she was offered a guard of honour by the 23 Rajput Battalion. Reportedly she will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various state and central projects during the visit.
