Siliguri, 29th January: A miscreant was arrested with a firearm by the Pradhan Nagar police in Siliguri. The arrested individual has been identified as Khokon Mahanto, a resident of the Dhaknikata area.
Reports indicate that on Tuesday night, the Pradhan Nagar police received information about a youth carrying a firearm near Biswadeep Cinema Hall. Acting on this tip-off, the police conducted a drive in the area. Upon apprehending the suspect and searching him, a firearm and ammunition were recovered.
According to police sources, the arrested individual had a prior criminal record. He was produced before the Siliguri court on Wednesday. The Pradhan Nagar police are currently investigating the matter.
