Poster war intensifies in Siliguri; TMC alleges posters of Abhishek Banerjee and Gautam Deb spat on

Siliguri, 13th April: Political tensions have escalated in Siliguri amid the ongoing West Bengal Assembly elections, with a fresh poster war surfacing in the city. The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has alleged that posters of Abhishek Banerjee and Gautam Deb were spat on in Ward No. 26.

According to reports, the incident follows a similar controversy in Ward No. 13, further intensifying the charged political atmosphere. The TMC has expressed strong resentment over the matter and stated that it will lodge a formal complaint with the police.

With the Assembly elections underway, streets and neighbourhoods across Siliguri have been covered with banners and posters by political parties campaigning for their respective candidates. Amid the heightened political activity, incidents of poster-related disputes have added to tensions in the city.

Earlier, in Ward No. 13 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, TMC candidate Gautam Deb had accused the BJP of tearing and damaging his posters, prompting a police complaint. The issue sparked a war of words between BJP candidate Shankar Ghosh and TMC candidate Gautam Deb.

The controversy escalated further when Shankar Ghosh reportedly engaged in a heated altercation with the police, following which an FIR was registered against him. Authorities are expected to investigate the latest allegations as the election campaign gathers momentum.
