Kharibari, 29th January: In a foiled attempt at animal trafficking, an individual was arrested from the Bengal-Bihar border in Kharibari. The accused has been identified as Haras Tisam (25), a resident of Haryana.
As per reports, the Kharibari police retrieved a truck during checking at the Chakarmari Checkpost located along the Bengal-Bihar border in Kharibari. During the search, the officials recovered eight buffaloes from the vehicle. The animals were being trafficked from Haryana to Assam without valid documentation.
On Monday, the accused was produced before the Siliguri Sub-Divisional Court while the police are further investigating the entire incident.
