Siliguri, 04th February: Police conducted a raid in the Papia Para area near Ashighar following a tip-off and arrested a mother and daughter with a large quantity of drugs and cash.
According to police sources, the raid was carried out at a house in Papia Para, where officers recovered a substantial amount of narcotics along with around Rs 12,000 in cash. The arrested persons have been identified as Anju Das and her daughter Shukla Das.
Local residents alleged that the family had been involved in drug trafficking for a long time. Initially, Anju Das’s son was allegedly running the illegal trade. After his death in a road accident a few years ago, the mother and daughter reportedly continued the activity jointly.
Police said they are investigating whether more people are linked to the racket and further probe is underway.
