Rajganj, 24th November: A birthday celebration in Rajganj turned politically charged after a police officer in uniform was seen feeding cake to Trinamool Congress block president Arindam Banerjee. The incident has triggered political arguments in the area.
BJP leaders alleged that the police officer’s uniform was hiding a Trinamool jersey, claiming it as evidence of political bias, though Trinamool leaders have downplayed the matter. The event took place on Saturday, Arindam Banerjee’s birthday, when Buddhadeb Ghosh, a police officer from Rajganj police station, attended the celebration.
A photograph showing the officer feeding cake to the Trinamool block president went viral on social media, initially posted by the leader himself, but was later removed amid controversy.
Arindam Banerjee clarified that the officer lives near his residence and the birthday celebration was a small, informal gathering organized by family members. The officer happened to be passing by, and being called over, joined to bless the family as an elder, dismissing any political motive behind the act.
