Siliguri, 12th November: The Siliguri Metropolitan Police has again launched an operation against unregistered e-rickshaws operating in the city.
According to reports, the police administration had previously introduced several measures to free the city from traffic congestion. Following these initiatives, a decision was made to prohibit the operation of unregistered e-rickshaws in the city. Consequently, the police managed to curb their movement on major city roads.
However, unregistered e-rickshaws have started appearing on the main streets despite these efforts. On Tuesday, several unregistered e-rickshaws were intercepted and seized by the police near Jalpai More in Siliguri.
The operation, led by Traffic Guard Officer-in-Charge Rajiv Guha, targeted unregistered vehicles operating on the city’s busy S.F. Road. During the drive, a significant number of unregistered vehicles were halted. The police have stated that legal action will be taken against the owners of these vehicles.
