Siliguri, 05th July: In a significant operation, the Pradhan Nagar police thwarted a major robbery attempt planned by a gang at an abandoned building in Dagapur. The incident led to the arrest of Francis Crispota (31) from Goerkata, Abhishek Onrao (19) from Birpara, Gautam Mahato (30) from Alipurduar, Amit Singh (19), a resident of Siliguri, and Suresh Khati (27) from Kurseong.
According to reports, on Thursday night, a gang of 12-15 miscreants from several districts gathered in an abandoned building in Dagapur in a planned attempt to commit a major robbery at a gold store or ATM in the city. Acting on a tip-off, the officers raided the abandoned building. Upon being alerted of the police’s arrival, several members of the gang managed to evade. However, five of the members were successfully apprehended.
During the raid, the officials recovered a pistol, two live ammunitions, and various sharp weapons, including daggers. On Friday, the accused criminals were produced before the Siliguri Court while further investigation is currently underway.
