Police expose illegal broker racket at NBMCH, 3 arrested

Siliguri, 27th October: In a significant crackdown, police from the Medical Outpost have arrested three individuals involved in an illegal broker racket at North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH). The accused have been identified as Sanjay Das, Vikas Roy, and Sujit Roy.


According to reports, the racket had been operating for an extended period, targeting the families of patients seeking medical care. The brokers would promise beds and better treatment in exchange for money, often intimidating to extort funds before disappearing.

Numerous complaints had been lodged by the families of patients at the Medical Outpost regarding the ongoing scam. Following an investigation, police received tip-off about the activities of the broker ring. Acting on this information, officers posed as a patient’s relative to enter the hospital and successfully exposed the racket leading to the arrest.


The arrested individuals were presented in Siliguri court on Sunday, where they were remanded to police custody for 14 days. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
