Pesticide store reduced to ashes in Rajganj, estimated loss of Rs 15 lakh

Rajganj, 01st September: A pesticide store at the Bhutki Hat area of Rajganj was completely destroyed by fire on Saturday night, with damages estimated at Rs 15 lakh.

According to the store owner, Asim Majumdar, he had closed the shop around 10 PM on Saturday and returned home. However, around 3:30 AM, a local vendor noticed flames emanating from the pesticide store and immediately informed Majumdar. The store was shuttered so the fire could not be brought under control in time. Later, the store owner arrived and found that everything in the shop was gutted. Despite efforts by local residents to extinguish the fire, the entire inventory of chemicals and medicines was reduced to ashes.

The Rajganj Police Station was alerted and arrived at the scene to begin an investigation. Majumdar stated that although the store had electricity, only a light and a fan were in use, and everything was securely turned off before he left. The cause of the fire remains unknown.

In this regard, Sumit Dutta, the Pradhan of Majhiyali Gram Panchayat, stated that the store was old and large. The exact reason for the fire is yet to be determined, and the police are thoroughly investigating the matter.
